Update 1.0.6! But what about 1.0.5?

Version 1.0.5 decided it was a demo build, and as such we designated it as a demo build version. However we're still updating the full game (as well as the demo version), so what's the new stuffs? - Improved animation for passing time. Yep, cat is now doing "cat things" when she waits for time to pass. - Shuffled the initial 10 levels around a bit, and replaced one level. The new level is intended to teach you how you can and can't move around the ghosts. - Hopefully this makes it clearer what you can and can't do with the ghosts, which can be a bit confusing if you're a first time player. - Also, "Join Our Walk" is no more... R.I.P, you will live on forever in our memories. - What's that random thingy in the top-left corner of the map? Well, there be costumes - it's a faire! While we're still making more of your favorite Halloween costumes, currently you have to endure with only two... but more is to come. In other news, you might find Halloween Picket Maze extend its OS support to include Linux. Proper testing is still pending, but a Linux / SteamOS (i.e. Steam Deck) build is in-progress.

Update 1.0.4

Yep, another update - another set of levels! 10 more to be exact, increasing the total level count to 60. This time, no new enemies or new level features, just 10 regular levels featuring all the previous level mechanics. Full list of the new goodies: - Levels have gotten a big facelift, with first 10 levels turning into a forest and box levels having a bit of mansion look 'n' feel to them. - Difficulty setting can now be adjusted. How do you make an action based game easier? Well, you slow down time! Slow setting reduces gameplay speed by 25%, so you can have a less stressful experience. - Added level map preview to victory screen. - No more paying candies to skip levels. We are still working on what candies will do, expect more on that for next update. - Skip time functionality. Some of the ghost levels involve quite a lot of waiting. To help remedy this you can now hold spacebar to fast forward. - Fixed a bug with levels that have multiple dogs, that would sometime run between two tiles over and over again... dogs are silly. It's getting darker outside, which means release date is creeping closer! We have a couple of more planned updates before this, so stay tuned.

Update 1.0.3

Somebody (the artist) made a level selection with 50 levels. Instead of fixing this little bug by modifying the artwork, we added more levels! And more features; boxes. If you have a cat and a box, you know what happens. The cat goes missing all of the sudden. This feature is now in the game; protecting the feline protagonist from ghosts, dogs and pumpkins alike. Animations are not 100% there yet so consider this feature not fully done, except for its functionality. Full list of new stuffs: - A new category with 10 new levels to teach and challenge you in your box usage. - Changed pumpkins to start firing only after you've moved once. This should prevent accidental afk auto-lose scenarios. - Level selection has turned into a saga map. Still work-in-progress but should be fully functional. - Added boxes here and there to pumpkin levels. Once you reach them you can have a breather and can plan your next move. - Changed UI to take you to the level selection instead of straight to the game (for new users). - Changed some UI texts: Quit in pause page now says Main Menu, and Start and Continue now says Play in main menu. Some of the feedback is still being worked on, so expect more updates shortly.

Update 1.0.2

Beta feedback rounds are still in progress, and so is polishing. Biggest noticeable improvement; level and poem scenes now have ambient soundtrack. This update also brings some quality of life improvements, especially for controller users out there. - Steam Input integration is now complete, which means you can play with pretty much any controller that connects to your PC. - Game pauses if the application window loses focus. So no more ghost <-> feline accidents due to random apps taking away your focus! - Changing audio output (e.g. plugging in headphones) is now handled by the game. - The level name banner that appears in beginning of the level is now removed when you restart the game. This makes retrying the level much faster, just in case you didn't win on the first try. - The last level (Final Parade) was previously just a victory screen. This has been remade into a real (somewhat difficult) level. - Level 38 (Corner Gourds) was deemed too easy for how late the level is, so one additional ghost was added to make things interesting. - Small graphics updates to various levels. We only have one bug fix for this update. The game has previously used the old name TinyHalloweenStory which we released last year, however we haven't cleaned up all references to this name. Now the game executable name and your save data will be in a location named HalloweenPicketMaze. Your save state is backed-up by Steam cloud so you should not have lost any progress with this change. If you have played previous versions, you can manually delete the previous save state by deleting the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\TinyHalloweenStory

Update 1.0.1

As feedback from beta testers are trickling in, we're updating and polishing the game. First off, the new stuff! - Now all levels have names. Yep, the "in-house poet" makes level names too. - Improved level transitions. No more snapping screens but a smoother fade to and from black, with the level name being presented. - New music. This is only for the main menu for now, we're working on designing the audio landscape for in-game and other menus. - More candies spread out to the levels. Roughly 30% of levels now feature a sugar filled, plastic wrapped goodie. - Is a level too hard? You can now pay the candyman to skip it (just text UI for now). He's not greedy, he just wants three of them per level. Previously the only use for candies was to get the related achievement. - Removed most buttons from level complete screen. Surely Continue is the only sensible option. - More variation in the audio so your ear doesn't get tired of the dog barking at you. - Changed pumpkins to catapult their smaller brethren out-of-sync. This brings a bit more challenge to levels with multiple pumpkins. - Added one more pumpkin to 2nd last level. - Small graphics updates to various levels. And last, the boring bug fixes: - Fixed issue where the tiles adjacent to the exit location was considered walkable. - Noticed that (and fixed) one of the levels had two pumpkins on the exact same place! Whoops. - Fixed the level selection picking the wrong level... now it features a level number on the placeholder button!

  • Halloween Picket Maze is a real-time puzzle game where you play a cat trying to find her way home. Avoid ghosts, trick hounds and dodge catapulting pumpkins. With 60 levels this is a short Halloween game to tickle your gray cells.
